A few nights ago I had a dream where I encountered a hummingbird.
This encounter wasn’t with a “real” hummingbird per-say, but rather a tattoo chest piece of a South American/Nazca Lines style birdie.
In this dream, I was looking in a mirror, my upper chest was exposed and I had a hummingbird tattooed on it. Its wings were spread and its head was facing to the right. Although the bird wasn’t flying through the air in front of me, I felt as though I had encountered it before and as if it has been with me always.

“The hummingbird symbolizes many different concepts. Because of its speed, the hummingbird is known as a messenger and stopper of time. It is also a symbol of love, joy, and beauty. The hummingbird is also able to fly backwards, teaching us that we can look back on our past. But, this bird also teaches that we must not dwell on our past; we need to move forward. When the hummingbird hovers over flowers while drinking nectar, we learn that we should savour each moment, and appreciate the things we love.”
